Other Media

Madigan used a wide variety of different media, often in a series of works reflecting an interest, or some particular material she found and was inspired by.

Found bone and stone reliefs

Madigan used found bone from sheep and birds from her Yass property. She loved for nothing material to be wasted.

The delicate collection of birds below, are made from found sheep ribs glued onto painted board.

Series of plaster medallions

Some painted black and then etched back to reveal a clear white line, others painted directly, even using some newspaper imprint.

From a series of toilet rolls

using cut-out to give the whimsical pieces three-dimensional variety.

Ceramic insulator reliefs

In the 1970s Madigan used a collection of old ceramic electrical insulation parts to create abstract reliefs.
